Meet Belmont’s More Than a Number, Kiara!
Part time work and part time study
Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
As a child I was always full of energy and always active, playing different sports and participating in any activities. I was heavily involved in dancing from a young age, up until my teenage years.
Did you have a goal when you first joined Planet Fitness?
My goal when I first joined was to not only improve my overall mental health and wellbeing but to utilise the gym as a safe place to come if I was ever having a hard time. My physical fitness has just been a bonus.
Have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
I have 100% achieved what I originally set out to do. Since training at the gym, my overall health is in an extremely good state and I have learned the importance of self care.
What was your perception of gyms/health clubs before you joined? Has it changed after joining Planet Fitness?
Before joining Planet Fitness, if someone told me that I would end up training six days a week, I would have laughed. My perception since I stated has definitely changed, Planet Fitness Belmont is like family to me now.
What are your fitness goals for the future?
My fitness goals for the future are to simply just to keep pushing myself, to keep setting new personal bests, and to keep encouraging people around me to do the same.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Honestly the biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome was walking through the doors the first couple of times and constantly keeping motivated.
Do you have any sources of inspiration? If so, who/what are they?
My inspiration comes from my personal life experiences. Other than that it comes from the music I listen to when I train.
What advice do you have for those who are thinking of joining Planet Fitness?
Aside from being affordable and close to home, Planet Fitness is a safe, judgement free environment. The staff and people make me feel welcomed and everyone is so friendly. I highly recommend joining.
What is your weekly fitness regime?
I train legs and booty twice a week, arms, shoulders, and back twice a week, chest and abs once a week and cardio on the weekends. I stretch and warm up before every workout and sometimes I will come in twice a day to fit in some more cardio.
“If people take anything from my music, it should be motivation to know that anything is possible as long as you keep working at it and don’t back down.” – Eminem (I listen to his music every time I train)
